Preschool and Time Out

It's not what you think :)...

Hudson started preschool last Wednesday.

Sis couldn't be left out of the picture!

Cool backpack!

So- we tried preschool earlier this year and it was a complete failure! He hated going (but loved it once he was there, if that makes any sense.) He hated me leaving him, it was a fight every morning so we just stopped (that was in March).  The thing that I didn't get was the sweet teacher was my neighbor, and all the kids were in the ward and/or neighbors, so he knew everyone there. So I have been stressed for months how he would do in a preschool where he didn't know a single person, not even the teacher.  I was prepared for major drama. I was prepared to bribe like no other, I bought a movie for him and promised a trip to McDonald's. Guess What?
There was NONE of it!!! In fact he hopped out of the car and ran up to the door, had his shoes off and his backpack hung up before I even got to the door! I was baffled to say the least! He LOVES preschool and he loves his teacher, he asks every day if it is preschool day.
So what changed? I can't  figure it out either.  Maybe he's grown up in the last few months. Maybe it's because it's in the afternoon instead of the morning, I don't know, I'm just happy because he's happy.

Big boy!

I'm on a spiritual high right now because I just got back from...

This was a the first time I've gone to a time out for women event, it was SO awesome!

One moment of many that had me in tears!

A few of my favorite presenters:

Kris Belcher had you laughing one minute, crying the next.
Mariama Kallon- the same, she has an amazing story.
Emily Freeman
Anthony Sweat
Wendy Ulrich
Hilary Weeks- how lucky are we?
Brad Wilcox

Can't wait for next year!!!

The Baby Shower

It was definitely a group effort I could not have done it without my mother-in-law and sisters-in-law.  Cara did all the invitations and decorating.  Terril made the main dish Natalie made most of the food, and I provided the venue, making your house and yard "party worthy" is a job.

The cutest idea for a baby shower. It was a book shower to start a little book collection for baby girl. Up above: book marks as a party favor.

Book plates to fill out and place inside the book. "You'll love this book because..." "Love..."

Cute little mama to be...

ADORABLE baby quilt made by Terril.

Can't wait to snuggle this baby come September.

Sawtooth Relay 2012

June 8-9

This day creeped up on me a little too quick this year, I didn't feel prepared.  But I packed my bags anyway with lots and lots of clothes...rain and snow in the forecast. :(  The Housewives arrived with their gear and we all piled in the car, away we went, destination Stanley, Idaho.

We got to our hotel room and enjoyed a delicious carb-heavy meal. :) After a leisurely stroll and some chatting it was off to bed, alarms set for 4:30 a.m. Start time for the race this year was 5:45 check in at 5:30.  A much more respectable time than last years 1:00 a.m. start.

Here we are at the starting line: Julie, our lovely volunteer, Amber, Heather, Jacque, Renee, Brittani, and myself...The Housewives of Heyburn! Renee is geared up to run the first leg.

It was super foggy when Renee started, you can see in the pic that the fog is starting to lift, no rain or snow yet. Renee coming in, Amber getting ready to start leg two.  That means, I'm next!!! I ran leg 3 and 9 same as last year. When I started running my first leg there was just a nice little confetti snow coming down...totally bearable, but it didn't take long for that to change.  When I started there was no snow on the ground when I finished there was at least a half an inch!! There was one time during my run that I wished I had my camera, I was crossing 4th of July Creek (which, at the time was more riverish and less creekish) The view was breathtaking! Everything was white, including myself, and you've never seen bigger flakes falling from the sky.  Despite the lovely weather conditions I beat my time from last year!!! Wahooo!!!! I was so excited. Once I melted off I was positively soaked to the bone, but luckily not really that cold. Good thing for a complete change of clothes.

Just to give you an idea.....

This is Brit running up Galena Summit.

The pics are few and far between this year, because frankly no one felt like getting out of the car.

My second leg went so much better than my first which was quite the opposite from last year. The flakes weren't quite so huge and wet and they were coming at my back instead of right in my face. One great thing about running the same legs is you know what to expect. I knew this year that the exchange is very illusive, and is hiding in a little dip in the road.  I knew not to be discouraged when I had been running for miles and all I could see in front of me was a   l o n g stretch of road and no exchange in sight, I knew this year that it was just over the hill. :) I hereby claim legs 3 and 9 forever!

Here we are crossing the finish line YAY!

Another awesome note, our team beat our last years cumulative time by 30 min!! GO H.O.H.!!!

This is Atkinson Park in Ketchum after we crossed the finish line. Seam rising up from the ground, funky and beautiful!

We drug our sore bodies to the car and high tailed it home to our kiddies our  hubbies and a nice hot bath.

AAAAHHHH!!!

Until next year Housewives!

Sawtooth Relay

The Sawtooth Realy was on Saturday and lets just say I've never had so much fun running 10 miles in my life! These girls are a riot.  We loaded up on Fri afternoon, we could have been gone for a week with all the crap we had, 6 women.... We decorated the car with our team name and we each named our legs of the relay, I wish I had a picture of that, it was pretty silly. We got to Stanley and had a wonderful dinner that we each helped make. Then we all went to bed around 9:00 to try and get some shut eye. Try being the key word.  Nerves got the best of me and I layed there until my alarm sounded at 11:50, time to get ready and head for the starting line.

Here we are at the starting line:  Renee, me, Karla, Brittani, Jacque, Erin
Gooooo Houswives of Heyburn!

Here's Renee ready for the 1:00 a.m. start:

Check out #214 it looks like he's thinking "...hmmm I'm totally gonna smoke these chicks..." HA whatever dude it's Renee you're up against!

I was totally on a team full of ROCK STARS and then there was me. :)

I ran my first leg at about 3 a.m. At first I was worried about running in the dark but it was fine and I actually enjoyed it more than my second leg.  I ran 5.03 miles in 1 hr 6 min 54 sec I'm not quite up to running 5 miles straight yet so I walked a little too (ok alot :))

Here we are FREEZING our booties off at dawn watching for Brit to come in. YaY! it's finally light enough to take pictures.

Here's Brit finishing up leg 5 and Jacque getting ready to run up the summit! Checking times.

Yay! Jacque made it up now Renee is getting ready to run down

Jacque you are amazing!!

Here comes Erin that means it's my turn.

Okay gag! (me not you Erin...you are a beauty.) Ignore this picture I wasn't going to post it but it's proof that I actually did this thing!

This leg was 4.64 miles so...shorter than my first leg but WAY harder...mentally. :) Since it was daylight you could see the exchanges and I kept looking and looking and it was never there and my knee started killing me.  But thank goodness for Sport Beans they are seriously like good drugs.  They helped SO much thanks Courtney!  So I felt like I was dragging on this leg...after all I've not had a wink of sleep. But I made it into the finish line in 1 hr and 41 sec.  When I came in and Brittani told me my time I heard it as 1 hr and 41 min. I was devastated after all it felt like it had been that long. I seriously almost started bawling right there (my emotions were on the fritz anyway)  so I started apologizing  feeling like I'd let the team down, and they couldn't understand why I was apologizing.  About an hour later we realized the miscommunication and I almost started bawling again, from relief this time. :)

Here's Karla cheering Brittani in.

And here goes Karla on the last leg

Here we are at the finish line!!

I had another "moment" crossing the line, I can't believe  I...I can't believe we...no, I knew that they could do it, but I wasn't so sure I could do it, but I did!

We finished the race in 11 hrs 23 min and 14 sec which is SO awesome I think!

This was such an awesome experience I can't wait to do it again!!!

My New Toy!!!

I am so excited about this. My Grandma promised me her piano a few years ago, and she said that I could take it any time I wanted. Well we finally moved close enough so I decided to move it over to my house. It is a good thing too because they have been asking me lately to sub in as the primary pianist, and I have a strange feeling that they want to make it permanent here before too long. So I have been practicing every spare moment I get, I haven't had a piano to practice on for 9 years so needless to say, I am a little rusty! I love my Grandma so much and I don't think that I could ever thank her enough for this incredible gift!!!

Here is a picture of the boys, they got to ride horses on Saturday they thought that was pretty fun.

Brody thinks he needs to pull a face in every picture so it seems like I can't ever get a decent picture of the kid. grrr!

Oh and just an update on "Our Little Visitor" After staying in our courtyard for about 2 weeks ducky finally left and went back down to the river (unless he is in someone else's courtyard :) ) We tried to take him down to the river after about five days only to have him return the next morning. So we just let him be, the last few days I noticed him venturing out more and more and then he was gone. Brody would chase it around trying to "pet" him and we would say "no, he has germs" so Brody would say "but I won't touch his mouth" I'm glad he is gone, He was quite an attraction though.

Well we are off to Red Fish Lake next week I'm sure we will have lots of pictures and stories to tell.

I've been lost in a book!

I just finished reading New Moon it is the second book in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Series. These books are so good I have hardly been able to put them down. They have the perfect mix of action and romance, I find myself looking over my shoulder when I go get Hudson in the middle of the night! (I freak myself out sometimes :) ) I don't have book 3 yet so I thought I would take some time and catch up on my blog!

On Friday I went to a card workshop put on by my cousin, it was really fun! I haven't done anything crafty in a LONG time and it felt good! It was fun to get together with my mom, my aunts, and my cousin and have a girly day with no kids(except Hudson)

Later that day we went boating, Nate loves to wake board. This is one of the main reasons that we moved to Rupert so that we would have easy access to the river!

Braiden and Brody even rode on the tube they loved it!

Saturday we took Huddy Buddy to the Dr because we thought that he might have an ear infection, and we were right (but not happy to be.) Poor little guy this is the 2nd ear infection and 3rd round of antibiotics and he is not quite 6 months old yet! He is such a good baby despite it all.

The weather has been very nice, we have been swimming and playing at the park the kids love it. They still love to run down to "Grandma Nae's" and she loves their little visits, every time they come back they have a little baggie of candy...hmmm :)

CoCo Key with the Shaws!!

On Thursday we went to CoCo Key with the Shaws; Tyler, Jen, Landon and Conner we love this place it is a very fun environment for the kids. They absolutely love the water, Brody and Landon went up and down the kiddie slide 95% of the day. Braiden had to do the bigger tube slides because he is a big boy :) He did the kiddie slides alot too :) I finally convinced Jen to go on Barracuda Blast with me (the really fast, pitch black slide) It was a scream!! Conner and Hudson (our water babies) loved splashing in the water! Nate and Tyler just kicked back on the lawn chairs (some of the time) and enjoyed being out of school.
